The Garmin International GPS-165 GPS receiver is an IFR approach-certified receiver with 1,000 user defined waypoints and navigation fixes for over 4,500 approaches. The GPS-165 possesses a front-loading NavData card to easily access or update the Jeppesen database which includes VOR, intersections, MSA, airports, runways, Comm frequencies, SUA, NDB, FSS, approaches and SID/Star terminal navigation.

The GPS-165 is 5.65 inches deep, 5.75 inches wide, 2.25 inches high and weighs 2.14 pounds. The GPS-165 has a built-in battery backup that automatically powers the unit in case of an electrical power failure. The Dzus mounted GPS-165 features a three line vacuum florescent dot matrix display that is 1.30 inches high and 4.10 inches wide. The panel mounted GPS-165 comes with either a gray or black panel dependent on the part number. The GPS-165 is also available as a whole kit which includes the addition of the connector kit, pilot's guide and quick reference guide. The kits are distinguished by their part numbers 010-00075-00 with a black panel or 010-00075-01 with a gray panel.
