The TARSYN-H provides roll, pitch and compass data in one
self-contained gyro package. The gyro package consists of a directional gyro
synchronizer, an attitude reference (VG-401H), and a base. The gyro
synchronizer provides compass information. The VG-401H provides vertical
reference information while the base provides resilient mounting for the gyro
synchronizer and attitude reference, common and external electrical
connections, erection control and monitor functions. The erection and monitor
circuits are contained on circuit card assemblies within the base. Electrical
connections, external to the base, are made through a 32-pin and a 55-pin
connector. The TARSYN-H has a length (including connectors and handle) of
16.08 inches, width of 6.53 inches, height of 7.63-7.70 inches and a weight
of 15 pounds. The mounting tray has a length of 16.96 inches, width of 6.76
inches, height of 0.63 inches and weighs 1.1
pounds.
The TARSYN-H features an automatic
initial fast synchronization which provides fully operational gyro
synchronizer within 3 minutes. The TARSYN-H also has automatic fast erection
which provides a fully operational Vertical Gyro within 3 minutes. The
TARSYN-H's automatic roll erection and compass slaving cut-off during turns
in excess of ± 6 degree bank. The TARSYN-H contains independent manual fast
erection backup switches for the gyro synchronizer and Vertical Gyro. All
roll, pitch and heading outputs are in accordance with ARINC standard
requirements. The starting power requirement for the TARSYN-H is 115 V, 400
Hz, 120 VA while the operational power requirement is 115 V, 400 Hz, 70
VA.
