The SVO-65 Primary Servo and SMT-65( ) Servo Mount provide a precise mechanism for controlling the displacement of the primary and trim control surfaces on an aircraft. The electrical control signals for the primary servos are provided by the APC-65 Autopilot Computer, which is the heart of the APS-65 Autopilot System.
The SVO-65 Primary Servo consists of a permanent magnet dc motor, an electromagnetic engage clutch and a precision multistage gear train. The drive motor and engage clutch are mounted to a 2-piece lightweight aluminum die casting that contains the gear train and provides the mounting surface for the servo. The servo is mounted directly to the back of the servo mount. The SVO-65 is enclosed in a molded plastic cover for environmental protection. The gear train is fabricated from high-strength, heat-treated stainless steel to provide an overall servo/servo mount positioning accuracy of ±0.37 degree, measured at the capstan. The low-torque servo and mount has a combined gear ratio of 213-to-1. The high-torque servo and mount has a combined gear ratio of 482-to-1. The SVO-65 is 3.75 inches in height, 3.67 inches in width, 4.81 inches in length and weighs 1.9 pounds. Certified for use in piston or turbine, fixed or rotary wing aircraft.
