The SVO-65 Primary Servo and SMT-65( ) Servo Mount provide a precise drive mechanism for controlling the displacement of the primary and trim control surfaces on an aircraft. The electrical control signals for the primary servos are provided by the APC-65 Autopilot Computer, which is the heart of the APS-65 Autopilot System.

The SMT-65( ) Servo Mount consists of the servo-to-aircraft mounting plate, the capstan output gear, an adjustable override clutch, and the output member that connects the mount with the aircraft control surface. The servo-to-aircraft mounting plate provides a rigid mounting surface for securing the servo to the mount. This mounting plate allows for the easy removal of the servo from the servo mount for maintenance without disturbing the aircraft rigging. The capstan output gear provides the mechanical interface between the output gear on the primary servo and one side of the adjustable override clutch. The other side of the override clutch is connected to the output member of the mount. The override clutch permits rotation of the out member if a servo failure occurs that prevents rotation of the servo.
