The A100A cockpit voice recorder is composed of three
essential components: the Recorder Unit, Control Unit Components with area
microphone module, and Vibration Mount. A Heavy–Duty Vibration Mount is
available for rotorcraft installations. The A100A simultaneously records four
separate channels of voice recording of either transmitted or received
signals that originate typically at the pilot's station and in the co-pilots
station, the passenger public address system or the third crew members
station in the cockpit area. The cockpit area microphone is strategically
located to pick up and record cockpit voice signals while electronically
suppressing engine or turbine noise . The A100A is a endless- loop magnetic
tape device that records all voice signal transmitted or received by aircraft
crew member for a max period of 30 minutes of contiguous operations. Voice
recording after 30 minutes will automatic be erased. The A100A is housed in a
orange one half ATR short equipment case and consists of a magnetic tape
recorder. The A100A is a unit with attached Underwater Locator Beacon (ULB)
and ULB mount. The A100A is explosion proof with a 4 track playback, with
complete internal circuit for bulk erase. The A100A tape recordings are
protected against aircraft accidents.
